“Growing your Business Network Using LinkedIn

0.3 Recertification Units

Presentation: Though it may be that you are not a salesperson by trade, as business people, we all see the need in having to sell yourself. The first step in this process is building a solid relationship through bonding and rapport. LinkedIn gives its users access to decision makers in their target market, no matter what their market of interest, to break the ice in this first step of forming solid relationships. Though best utilized in the business to business arena, either through networking or job placement, LinkedIn offers an opportunity to grow your business (or yourself) easier than ever before!

If you are interested in growing your business network as a means to greater success, then this seminar is for you! The speaker will be offering a brief overview of how to complete and use your LinkedIn profile to its highest payoff capabilities. To do this, he will be walking through the application and touching on each of the important tabs that can be used to increase the size of your network thereby opening opportunities in areas such as job placement, new business, improving relationships with existing clients, and even acting as a link to other social network platforms and marketing pieces you have created! This session will last approximately one hour and so will not have time to get too in depth with some areas of the application. The most applicable points will be mentioned and further assistance and support is always available through the speaker.

Speaker Biography: Joshua Boling began his love of business development in high school where he was a part of the nationally recognized program of Port Clinton DECA. During his time in this program, he placed 1st in the state in both projects he entered: Public Relations and Learn and Earn. He then placed in the top ten in both projects at the National level in 2003.

By the time he began attending Bowling Green State University he was already looking for practical application of the lessons he was learning in college. He created NorthStar Communications, a niche oriented marketing firm in Bowling Green. The sales and business lessons he learned there followed him and when he was only 19 passed the test to become a licensed loan officer for Stonefire Mortgage. He was able to relate to others quickly and before long was promoted to outside sales. Shortly after starting, the markets began to slope downward and seasoned loan officers were leaving the business. During this time, however, he closed over $120,000 in brokerage fees in his first year while also attending Bowling Green State University fulltime.

Next he started work at Bruce Miller’s State Farm Insurance agency. Here he was able to apply what he’d already learned about lead generation and helped the Bruce Miller Agency achieve its best year of growth in Property/ Casualty and Life/ Health Insurance. That meant contributing over 200 lines of business in his first year. The next year he even exceeded that stellar record.

Josh has his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Bowling Green State University with a dual specialization in Marketing and Finance. While there he represented Bowling Green at the National Collegiate Sales Competition and the National Team Selling competition in 2011. He also received a certificate in professional selling.

Josh has brought a unique blend of analytical, technical and communication knowledge to the Successful Behavior Institute. He is able to apply his knowledge to many industries and is always up to the challenge of helping the next person grow.
